Is Social Media for the Shy?

by admin on March 25, 2010

Do you find yourself in the following situation?  You have a great product or service, you have heard Gary Vaynerchuk shout at you to get out and Twitter it up, you are all motivated to tell the world about your product…..and then you find you have nothing to say?  You probably have a lot to say, you just don’t know how to start or what you should say, you don’t want to come across to spammy yet you don’t want to be so personal that people think you are looking for a date.

I am not going to lecture you about getting over you shyness or quote Morrissey about “Shyness being great” I am going to give you 4 steps to help you get started.

1.     Mention something going on in your day, did you pet do something strange, did you kid say something crazy..if you don’t have a kid or a pet comment on your view from your desk and upload a photo of it.
2.    Re-Tweet something said that you agree with.  The rule here is if the person you are going to re-tweet has a link in their tweet, click on it first to make sure it’s not naughty.
3.    Give props to a product or service that you like and use.  “Are you following @skoycloth I love their products”
4.    Talk about your service “This week we are offering a deal on…..”

Rinse Repeat…

Now if you are still very worried that you might mess it up drop me an email introducing yourself and I will send out your first tweet for yourself.
